Ranking list regattas take place in various class and/or levels.
For the Olympic Classes ISAF publishes the World Ranking List - this contains properly the names of the professional sail competitors. It is fairly difficult to get registered on this list. It contains about two and a half thousands of racing units in eleven categories.
EUROSAF, the federation of national sailing associations of Europe renewed in 1998. Among the goals its Constitution has expressed
- To promote the practice of sailing in Europe with exchanging knowledge, with sharing practices and experiences among the national sailing federations
- Coordination of international, in-continent and regional level regattas in Europe
