The former leader of the event, Italian skipper
Francesco Bruni, failed to resist the pressure of his competitors and lost 4
matches out of 7. So he ended up on the 6th place. The European champion 2007
Peter Wibroe (DEN) was also unlucky. He won only 2 matches out of 7 and took
the 7th place. Tomislav Basic (CRO) has the same result, he lost the match
against Wibroe and took the 8th position and Alvaro Marinho (POR) is the 5th.
The semi-finalists are: Eugeniy Neugodnikov (RUS), who
has won 5 races out of 7, Staffan Lindberg (FIN) with the same results, Manuel
Weiller (ESP) and Nick Cherry (GBR) have won 4 races.
Neugodnikov beat Lindberg and got the right to choose
his opponent for the semi-final. The remaining skippers will sail against each
other in the second pair of the semifinal.
Also tomorrow there will be races for the 9th to 16th
places.
