Tour de France à la Voile
The new organizer of the « Tour de France à la Voile » (Amaury Sport Organization) presented to the media some competitors such as the plan for the coming 2012 edition.
Well-known for its expertise in outdoor events, A.S.O. has just arrived in the nautical field where they were very expected: "2012 will be, for us, a transition year" said Yann Le Moënner, CEO of A.S.O., before pointing out that his company only had 5 months to put together the 2012 Tour.
Though, he announced this morning that Samsung, one of the electronics industry world leaders, is now a main partner of the Tour de France. As such, we will see the Samsung logo flapping all along the competition in the various spinnakers. The Tour will also be the opportunity for Samsung to launch the new smartphone Samsung Galaxy S III.
Apart from this great news, A.S.O. has already brought his expertise and personal touch to the 35th Tour de France à la Voile. They have defined three priority goals: strengthening the relation with the competitors, improving the media coverage of the event and, finally attracting a larger audience by developing the village ashore and relocate some courses arrivals close to the shore.
In order to improve the visibility of the event, A.S.O. overturned a few traditions! For the first year, the leaders of the various ranking will be recognizable at sea thanks to the colour of their spinnaker. Aside to the overall ranking (blue spinnaker) and amateur one (pink spinnaker), two new rankings will now grant the specialists: the offshore ranking (green spinnaker) and the technical one (red spinnaker).
